| I began my paintings of markets due to my interest in
Cleveland's West Side Market. It is colorful. It is charming. It is
warm, even on a cold November day. I often shopped there and saw real people
engrossed in their life's work, pulling heavy carts, creating beautiful, brilliant piles
of juicy tomatoes and making stacks of ordinary potatoes look like a work of art.
I painted the shoppers in their Saturday clothes hauling heavy plastic bags
of groceries and stopping to enjoy the wares of an engaging vendor.
The Markets are filled with endless inspiration. |
